KUALA LUMPUR — YB Senator Dr. Jufitri Joha, President of World Trade Chamber Malaysia (WTCM), held an online meeting with H.E. Ms. Sharon Ho Swee Peng, Ambassador of Malaysia to Ireland, on Thursday to discuss opportunities for strengthening business and economic engagement between Malaysia and Ireland.
Muad M. Zaki, Co-Founder & Managing Director of WTCM, also participated in the discussion.
The discussion focused on how greater attention could be given to Ireland as a market for Malaysian businesses, including helping Malaysian companies better understand the opportunities available in the country.
Ireland was also acknowledged as having the potential to serve as a gateway into the wider European market for specific Malaysian companies. As a member of the European Union, Ireland could offer relevant businesses an avenue to explore opportunities beyond the Irish market as part of a broader European expansion strategy.
At the same time, the discussion recognised the importance of strengthening business interest in the other direction by helping Irish companies gain greater awareness of Malaysia and the opportunities available here.
Malaysia’s position within Southeast Asia provides a strong foundation for companies looking to explore opportunities in the region, making greater two-way business awareness an important part of strengthening Malaysia–Ireland economic ties.
YB Senator Dr. Jufitri highlighted the value of creating greater international opportunities for Malaysian businesses and expressed his appreciation to H.E. Ms. Sharon Ho for her continued efforts in strengthening relations between Malaysia and Ireland.
He also welcomed further engagement following the discussion, with the aim of identifying practical areas where greater business awareness and connections could be developed between the two countries.
Through its platform and business network, WTCM will look at ways to give greater visibility to relevant opportunities in Ireland for Malaysian companies while also supporting greater awareness of Malaysia among businesses in Ireland.
The meeting concluded with YB Senator Dr. Jufitri thanking H.E. Ms. Sharon Ho for the constructive engagement and expressing his appreciation for the work of the Malaysian Embassy in Ireland.
WTCM looks forward to building on the discussion and exploring practical opportunities for greater business engagement between Malaysia and Ireland.
