WTCM Strengthens Malaysia–China Business Relations Through Strategic Engagement in Shenzhen

World Trade Chamber Malaysia (WTCM) recently concluded a successful business engagement mission in Shenzhen, China, where our team participated in a major economic, business and investors event before holding a series of strategic meetings with innovative Chinese companies exploring future international expansion.
The visit forms part of WTCM’s ongoing commitment to identifying investment opportunities that can contribute to Malaysia’s long-term economic development while strengthening commercial ties between Malaysia and China. Throughout the mission, discussions centred on building practical partnerships that could create lasting value for both countries.
As a chamber headquartered in Negeri Sembilan, WTCM introduced the state as a priority destination for companies considering expansion into Malaysia. With its strategic location, well-developed industrial infrastructure, growing logistics connectivity, and close access to the Klang Valley, Negeri Sembilan presents an attractive platform for companies seeking to establish manufacturing, research, assembly, or regional operations serving both Malaysia and the wider ASEAN market.
During the visit, WTCM engaged with companies operating across a range of advanced industries, including humanoid robotics, artificial intelligence, smart-city technologies, intelligent municipal sanitation systems, waste-to-energy solutions, and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aviation technologies. Rather than focusing solely on product adoption, discussions explored how these technologies could support Malaysia’s broader industrial development while creating meaningful opportunities for local participation.
A key priority throughout every meeting was ensuring that any future collaboration delivers tangible benefits for Malaysians. WTCM highlighted the importance of skills development, technology transfer, workforce training, knowledge sharing, high-value employment opportunities, and greater participation for Malaysian suppliers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The Chamber believes that sustainable investment should contribute not only to economic growth but also to strengthening Malaysia’s long-term industrial capabilities.
The engagement also reflects the increasing interest among leading Chinese companies in expanding their presence within ASEAN through strategic regional partnerships. Malaysia’s political stability, business-friendly environment, skilled workforce, and strategic geographic position continue to make the country an attractive destination for international companies seeking long-term growth.
“Our objective extends beyond facilitating business expansion into Malaysia. We aim to build partnerships that create lasting value for Malaysians through investment, skills development, technology transfer, employment opportunities and stronger local industries. As WTCM is based in Negeri Sembilan, we are committed to promoting the state as a preferred destination for companies seeking to establish a meaningful and sustainable presence in Malaysia.”
Following the conclusion of the China mission, WTCM has begun follow-up discussions with several companies to explore practical pathways for future collaboration. These engagements will continue over the coming months as the Chamber works closely with potential partners to identify opportunities that align with Malaysia’s development priorities while supporting stronger bilateral economic cooperation between Malaysia and China.
This mission represents another important step in WTCM’s broader vision of connecting international businesses with opportunities in Malaysia, creating partnerships that contribute to sustainable investment, innovation, employment, and long-term economic growth for the nation.
